CHILCOMB has an early Norman church nestling on the edge of the woods in the valley of the South Downs.  Absolutely magnificent views of Winchester City. Good walking and cycling area with the South Downs walk passing straight passed the front gate.

WINCHESTER with the Cathedral, Great Hall and Round Table is just a 5 minute drive away.  Other must sees are the Law Courts, Museums, Winchester College, Winchester University, Jane Austen attractions and much more. Intech; the UK's largest capacity digital Planetarium and hands-on interactive science and technology centre is just outside Chilcomb. Every fortnight, on a Saturday morning, a Hampshire farmers market is held in the centre of Winchester.

ALRESFORD
attractive small Georgian town worth visiting.  Good pubs and eating.  Home of the Midhants Railway Watercress Line.

AVINGTON Trout Fishery, about 3-4 miles away, is one of the oldest stillwater trout fisheries in the country, famous for its clear water stalking and the big fish it produces. Also situated across from the fishery is Avington Park, used mainly for Weddings, but also for coprporate functions and as a film location.

CHAWTON the home of Jane Austen

ROMSEY Broadlands, home of the Late Lord Mountbatten

The Port of SOUTHAMPTON is very nearby for those heading off or returning from a luxury cruise.

NEW FOREST a great day out, including Beaulieu, Exbury Gardens, Lymington for sailing and Ferry to the Isle of Wight, amongst many other popular attractions.  

PORTSMOUTH Historic Dockyard with Victory the Warrior and Mary Rose. Gun Wharf Quays is a popular shopping and eating destination on the waters edge.  The D-Day Museum, birthplace of Charles Dickens and the Blue Reef Aquarium are also worth a visit. The Spinnaker Tower is now open with lifts to the top for far reaching views.

SALISBURY Stonehenge and Avebury about ¾ hour drive away.


LOCAL PUBS are nearby for evening meals and Winchester is only 5 minutes away for restaurants. Pubs include The Cricketers in Easton, The Trout in Itchen Abbas, The Bush in Ovington, The Willow Tree in Winchester, The Chestnut Horse in Easton as well as many others.  Or if it is finer dining you are looking for, there are many restuarants in Winchester, including Hotel Du Vin, The Black Rat and The Chesil Rectory.
